We had more fun this 4th of July than we've had in a long time! We spent the first part of the day at the beach with my family. There was great weather, delicious food, and fun playing in the water. Macy loves playing in the little pool my mom brings to the beach. We filled it with warm water, toys, cousins, and possibly a sand crab or two. After a quick nap at home, we headed out to spend the rest of the day with the Hawkins. We went swimming, had a water balloon toss/fight, played with fireworks, and ate more treats than one person should eat in a month. Right after our personal fireworks show, we noticed a huge hill on fire which added to our excitement.

The Mansion

I named my parent's home "the mansion." To Macy, it pretty much is a mansion compared to her former residence. She loves it here. There are two extra people here to give her attention, all new toys, a huge back yard, hundreds of new books, and much more. She's in heaven. Grandma is teaching her how to bust her hump to earn her keep.

May you R.I.P. Eloise. Let's just say this crime scene involved Macy, a cup of grape juice, and a once loved dolly. Macy used to carry her around saying "baby," but after the accident she whimpered every time she got near Eloise. On a lighter note, the grape juice came out of the carpet.

The monster fell asleep in true character.

Move

We've moved! In order to make life a little easier on us (not so much them) we decided to move in with my parents. Somehow we tricked them into letting us stay with them while Chris goes back to school. We packed up our little home that we moved into when we got married nearly 6 years ago. It was a little sad leaving the only place we've called home together, but exciting at the same time. We will really miss my grandparents whom the house belonged to and we lived behind. It was nice to get so spend so much time with them and get to know them better. I love those two.

Birthday Bash

Since Macy's and Chris' birthdays fall 11 days apart, and numbers 30 and 1 are kind of a big deal, I decided to do a joint birthday party. We enjoyed a perfect day at the park with some family and friends. My friends have a cool company called A Little Scene Flip Books, their mobile studio creates personalized flip books as party favors. They were kind enough to come to our party and let us have some fun making our own flip books. (I'll post a video of some so you can see what I'm talking about). You can visit their website here.

I cracked the whip on my poor brother to make us some invites, I thought they turned out great. J&B, I'm ready when you are to cash in on some grilled romaine.

Macy started making this face a few weeks ago. She does it when she thinks she is really cool, we laugh every time.

She spent a lot of the day in the ice bucket.

Thanks Mom and Dad for helping to put on the entire show. I couldn't believe how sweet and generous my parents were, I don't think either of them sat down all day. With no questions asked, both of them just worked until it was all said and done. Thank you, I had so much fun spending the day with you guys. I didn't get a picture of my pops bustin' his hump, but here's my mom flipping some tortillas for the awesome carnitas we had.

Birthday Girl

Our Baby Macy turned one! We celebrated the occasion by going out to dinner with my parents, Matt, Wendy, and cousin P. Here she is delighted with her present from Grandma Sherry and Grandpa Phil.
Since Macy's one true love in life are Cheerios, I decided to make her a Cheerios cake. Do I know my girl or what? She payed no attention to the frosting and went right for the precious circles in the center of the heart.

After a few months of wrestling this pig into her car seat every time we wanted to go somewhere, we decided that it was time to let the big girl face forward while riding in her throne. Baby had to go first...

She was acting too cool at first, no smile for the parents beaming in the front seat with cameras snapping away. Once we turned up some music she decided to join in on the dance party and kick up her heals (Elaine from Seinfeld style).

"Cheerio"

You know that saying "you are what you eat?" Well, I think Macy is proof that it's true... she is what I ate. My only craving during my pregnancy was plain Cheerios. I ate them every day of all 41 weeks and 2 days (yes, she was 9 days late). Most days I would eat them twice. I don't know what is was, but I had to have them. I remember looking at her the day I brought her home and thinking, "How in the world did I make her... out of Cheerios." The girl can eat these for every meal and then some. I think I may have to put her on a Cheerios diet because she won't eat her breakfast, she holds out because she knows the good stuff is coming. WHAT is in them?

Little Dinosaur

Macy's favorite book is How Does A Dinosaur Say Goodnight. The girl would listen to this 30 times a day if she could. We've read it so many times that she knows what parts are coming next. Our favorite part is when she turns around to give us a kiss when the dinosaur gives a kiss goodnight, if we're lucky we get two!

Happy Birthday Christopher! Now people will be even more surprised to find out that you are not 23 years old. (Two girls he works with asked him how old he was last week, he told them to guess, and they both said 23... happens all the time). Chris' birthday was the on the 19th. We spent the day going to church, hanging out with his family, eating birthday cake, hanging out with my family, and eating some more birthday cake. The two of us celebrated the next night by going out to dinner. Believe it or not, it was the first date we've been on since Macy was born. My parents babysat tiny for us, she had the time of her life and was a little disappointed when we came home. We went to Benihana and they tried to sit us at a table with a squirming 1 and 3 year old. I kindly told the hostess that we would not be joining their group as this was a kid-free night. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt like giddy teenagers.

Chris' present wasn't arriving until 2 days after his birthday, but there's something wrong with turning 30 and having nothing to open. So I made him a book from Macy "30 Reasons Why I love My Dad. " The reasons were specific to the two of them and had a picture for each one. I think he liked it. Happy 30th birthday Christopher, I love you.

EASTER 101

Gather together at Grandpa Art's for an Easter brunch and egg hunt.

Take a family photo for the blog.

Reminisce about the years before (wow, what a difference a year makes).

Listen for hunting instructions. "I see it, I grab it, and I move on."

"Like this Mom?"

"Oh, it's so shiny."

"Right, move on."

"I think I'm getting good at this."

Next, sit and evaluate the goods.

Check out what the others got.

Possibly do a swap-a-roo with the girls.

Have about 1,000 flashes go off in 30 seconds.

Try and smile with a giant malt ball in your mouth.

Macy LOVED A&M's dog. She was a little scared, but not scared enough to stay away. Non-stop squeals of delight. I'm worried she'll be the kid that begs us for a dog for every birthday until we finally cave.

I had to post these cuzzies. They're so cute.

Easter morning after church.

We had so much fun with this little peach. I had no idea she would be so into all the action, considering she's only 11 months. I think the practicing with Grandma Sherry paid off. She hadn't had a nap all day at the hunt and we didn't hear one complaint.
